Van Buren Educational Foundation

The Educational Foundation of Van Buren Community Schools, began in 1995, with goal to enhance educational opportunities for the students of  the district.

The Mission of the Educational Foundation is to raise funds and promote educational programs for the district via donations from businesses, organizations, corporations, individuals and foundations; to act as a fiscal agent for donors who wish to sponsor projects and/or improvements for the Van Buren Community Schools, its teachers and students; and receive and disburse funds, property and gifts of any kind exclusively for the educational benefits of the students.

Since then, it has received support from businesses, organizations and alumni and has contributed more than $85,000 to the Van Buren Community School District.

The foundation:

  • Provides teachers with an opportunity to apply for a \•50 classroom “mini-grant” for projects they deem necessary, but ones the district has no funds to supply; 
  • Gives each sixth-grader a hard-bound dictionary that includes an atlas and thesaurus; and
  • Funds reading and math projects in kindergarten through fourth grades.

It also currently manages three scholarships totaling $3,675 annually for Van Buren seniors.

We are a private, non-profit organization governed by a Board of Trustees  made up of residents of the school district.  The volunteer staff donates their time and energies so that our students may benefit from every available advantage in the classroom.
